Glaucoma is a serious eye condition that involves an elevation in pressure inside the eye. Increased pressure results from a buildup of excess fluid in the eye. Glaucoma is a dangerous eye condition because it frequently progresses without obvious symptoms. This is why it is frequently referred to as the sneak thief of sight. Our clinic is open on all week days. The intra ocular tension is measured with the latest model of equipments. If it is found to be high, then Gonioscopy, which is performed to look at the front part of the eye (anterior chamber) between the cornea and the iris is done. The field of vision is also charted out with the sophisticated Humphrey Auto Perimeter to measure the extent of damage if any and to take up subsequent action in cases where required. Depending upon the level of intra ocular tension, degree of damage to the optic nerve and the visual field, the patient is treated medically or surgically to retain the residual vision.
