OUT PATIENTS DEPARTMENT

The institute has a fully air-conditioned OPD which functions from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm on Weekday. On Sundays and limited public holidays the OPD facilities are available from  s8.30 am to 12.30 pm. The hospital also provide extended OPD facilities from 4.30 to 8.30 pm on working days.

Detailed examination of the eyes are done with modern instrument and equipments. In case of eye conditions requiring treatment in the OPD, prescriptions are given. Or else the cases are referred to other sections or to special clinics for further investigations, diagnosis and treatment. Minor procedures are done at the OPD Minor Operation Theatre (O.T.)

Refractive error is diagnosed by standard methods and where necessary, with Auto-Refractometer, and corrective glasses are prescribed. Those requiring Contact lens are referred to the Contact Lens Clinic. There is a pathological Lab for routine investigations  required  for surgical cases.

Although services are the same, there are two sections, one for the poor patients who pay a nominal Rs.10/- and other patients who pay Rs.60/-, as registration charges, and are issued a card which is valid for two subsequent visits to the OPD within a period of one month. Those poor patients who cannot pay even Rs.10/- are provided treatment free of cost.
