Message

The Hospital started its journey in the year 1992 with the support of prominent Rotarian Promoters those who have contributed significantly to the establishment of the Organization to cater imperative eye care needs of the people of the state. They have toiled hard to establish the Institution in an isolated location under Cuttack Development Authority which was a place of lost hope, particularly during the year of inception when CD was scarcely used for habitation.

With the relentless pursuit of Rotarians and the staff of the Hospital including Doctors, the Hospital gradually developed and the trend went unabated. The Hospital to its credit has an average of 250 OPD patients a day and conducts about 7000 / 8000 surgeries in a year. Our Hospital to its credit has also conducted outreach camps beyond the territory of Odisha, organizing very successful surgeries of patients mostly poorer and deprived sections of the society.

To name a few, surgery was conducted in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh. With prolonged collaboration with Sightsavers, our Hospital has worked hard to bring glory and fame in the field of Eye Health Care by pursuing various programmes like the Urban Eye Health Programme, and Trucker Programme namely RAHI at Paradeep, Keonjhar and Jajpur.

The Hospital has been over the years conducting camps both in rural and urban areas in the assigned territories allotted by CDMOs of different districts. Unlike other Hospitals, our Hospital undertakes Cataract surgeries concerning all programmes such as BSKY I DBCS and the surgery is conducted without any cost to the patients. So far, the Hospital to its credit has to cover 2,54, 162 surgeries.

The Hospital also successfully runs a Graduates course and also Fellowship Programme duly approved by the Diplomate of National Board Examinations and Govt. of India, Department of Health and Family Welfare and so far 289 Trainees and 25 post-graduates have completed their training programme.

The Hospital also provides training to Ophthalmic Clinical Assistants every year and with their able assistance, the Hospital work is carried out successfully.

The Hospital is shortly going to get approval for the training of Ophthalmic Assistants envisaged under the State Govt. and the programme will start after compliance with the required formalities.

The Hospital to its credit also undertakes research activities to bring solutions to rare impairments in Vision and has entered into Clinical Trial agreements with Sun Pharma Trend and Nanoscope (USA).

We are sanguine that in the long run, the research will yield benefits that will remove blindness and vision deficiencies for the benefit of the general public of the country.
We look forward to the future growth and progress of the hospital to serve the people of the state as well as neighbouring states in the field of eye health care.
